What you bring
- A server running Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 on x86_64, with 2 vCPUs, 4 GB of memory, 20 GB of free disk and a public IPv4 address.
- A domain for three hostnames, such as phone.example.com, api.phone.example.com and mcp.phone.example.com.
- A SIP trunk from a carrier you choose, as on the hosted platform.
- Voice provider accounts for the engines you want: Deepgram, ElevenLabs, OpenRouter, Sarvam or Google. You add their keys in your console.
How it works
- Buy the license while signed in to your Wixzel Phone account.
- Point the three hostnames at your server.
- On Self-host, enter the server’s SSH details, or copy the one-line command it gives you and run it on the server. The install takes 10 to 20 minutes and carries on by itself if you close the page.
- Open your new console, enter the setup code the install page shows, and add your provider keys.
To update, run the installer again from the same page. The install guide covers DNS, firewall rules and the commands on the server.
Hosted or self-hosted
The hosted platform suits you if you want one API key and one prepaid balance, and no server or provider accounts to look after. It charges a $0.012 orchestration fee per connected minute on top of the model prices.
Self-hosting suits you if calls must stay on your own servers, if you already hold provider accounts, or if you run enough minutes that the fee matters. The license costs the same as the orchestration fee on about 41,600 connected minutes, before counting what you save by paying providers directly. You pay for the server and run it yourself.
The license
The license covers your own business. Install it on as many servers as you need, for your own staff and the contractors who work for you. You may not host it for other businesses, sell access to it, or pass on the software or its source. The Self-host License has the full terms.
Frequently asked questions
- Is there a license key?
- No. The purchase is recorded on your Wixzel Phone account, and the installer, the releases and the source download check that account. Nothing on your server checks a license or contacts us.
- Does a self-hosted server send anything to Wixzel?
- No. Calls, recordings, transcripts, provider keys and every setting stay on your server. While an install or an update runs, the installer reports its progress and log to your account so you can follow it; after that the server is on its own. The console checks for a newer release from your browser, not from the server.
- Can I use it for my customers?
- You can use it to run your own products and services, including ones your customers use, as long as nobody outside your business gets access to Wixzel Phone itself: its console, its API or its MCP server. You may not host it for other businesses, sell access to it or pass the software on.
- How do updates work?
- Open Self-host on phone.wixzel.com and run the installer again for the same server. It keeps your data, keys and settings, waits for calls in progress to finish, and goes back to the previous release if the new one does not start. Your console shows when a newer release is out.
- What does the server need?
- Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 on x86_64, 2 vCPUs, 4 GB of memory, 20 GB of free disk and a public IPv4 address. It also needs a domain with three hostnames pointing at it, a SIP trunk, and accounts with the voice providers you want to use.
- Can I get a refund?
- Write to us within 30 days of buying. The Credits and Refunds policy covers how refunds work. A refund ends the license, so the installer, new releases and the source download stop working for your account.
